William Calvin Burton

William Calvin "Breezy" Burton, 87, of Middletown, died Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at Hospice of Butler & Warren Counties. He was born in Cannel City, Kentucky on July 24, 1928 to parents Calloway and Mary Florence (Keeton) Burton.

Breezy worked as a bar mill roller in the hot strip at Armco Steel, retiring in 1990 after 42 years with the company. He served his county in the United States Army during World War II. Breezy was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ and was also an avid bowler, secretary of the Eastern Lanes Twilight League for 52 years and was inducted into the Middletown Bowling Hall of Fame. He was an accomplished carpenter and cabinet maker.

Mr. Burton is survived by his son, William (Kim) Burton; step daughter, Connie Edwards; grandchildren, William E. (Jennifer) Burton, Shawn S. (Lori) Burton, Matthew C. Burton & Molly A. Burton; step grandchildren, Heather Edwards & Damon Edwards; seven great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Charlotte Burton; special nephew, Mike Grabau and many more nieces & nephews, as well as special friends, Missy Lovely, Susan Downey, Don Grosardt & Jenny Elam.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Barbara Jean Burton; parents; sisters, Maggie Hudson, Josephine Hagan, Alma Elrod & Lucy Williams; and brothers, Claude Burton & Jimmy Burton.

The family wishes to extend very special thanks to Dr. Mark Frazer for his many years of wonderful care.

Funeral Service will be held Monday, January 18, 2016 at 11:00 am at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown with Reverend Sheresa Simpson-Rice officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 10:00 - 11:00 am. Entombment will be at Woodside Mausoleum with military honors conducted by the Middletown Combined Honor Guard.
