Minetta Kay McDaniel

May 1, 1943 — January 14, 2026

Franklin Township

Minetta Kay McDaniel, 82, of Franklin Township, OH passed away on January 14, 2026, at Optimized Senior Living. She was born on May 1, 1943, in Lewisburg, OH to Robert A. and Wanda M. (Wilson) Butts.

Kay was a 1961 graduate of Northridge High School in Dayton, OH. She worked as a secretary in business and education, and enjoyed her 12 years as the church secretary at Mills Memorial United Methodist Church in Lancaster, OH. She combined her faith with her love for children and fulfilled her calling as a teacher in the children's ministry at Mills Memorial, First United Methodist Church in Middletown and West Chester Nazarene Church where she was a current member. But most of all, her delight was the titles she carried as a devoted “Wife”, “Mom”, “Grandma”, “Sister”, and “Friend”.

Kay was well known for her love, joy, and hospitality. Whether in her relationship with her Lord Jesus (humming praise songs and hymns), with her family (playing board games and telling funny stories), or with her many friends (having dinner over laughter and tears), her life was complete. It has been said of her that when you left Kay’s presence you felt like you had been hugged. Her desire was for everyone to remember her after she had left this life in this way. “She lived. She died. She lives again”.

Kay is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, Vaughn H. "Mac" McDaniel; daughter, Michelle R. (Darin) Fowler; son, Gordon R. (Beverly) McDaniel; sister, Rebecca A. (Don) Welch; grandchildren Zach (Rebecca) Fowler, Josh (Emily) Fowler, Nick, Hope, and Isaiah McDaniel; and great grandchild McKenna Fowler.

She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her siblings, Edna Mae (Jim) Lyons; Richard F. (Carol) Butts; and Charles E. “Charlie Boy” Butts.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at West Chester Nazarene Church, 7951 Tylersville Rd., West Chester Township, OH.

Funeral Service will be immediately following at 11:30 AM with Reverend Gordon McDaniel, Reverend Darin Fowler, and Reverend Alex Mahaffey, pastor of West Chester Nazarene, officiating.

Interment will be at Dayton National Cemetery at 2:00pm.
