Menta Jo Griffin

Menta Jo Griffin, born May 6, 1943 in Breathitt County, Kentucky, one of 12 children born to parents, Noah & Jesse (Keith) Turner. She loved to sing gospel music and served in this ministry for many years. She spent most of her career as a caregiver and was exceptional in her profession. Her favorite hobby was gardening and her flowers were the envy of the neighborhood.

She married the love of her life on September 3, 1960. They were married 65 years and raised 6 children. She was a faithful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ and a lifelong member of The Church of God in Jesus. She departed this life peacefully at home on December 27, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Menta Jo is survived by her husband, John Griffin; her children, Tammy Sizemore, Lisa (John) Theodore, Melody (Danny) Dykes, Rodney (Angie) Griffin & Randy Griffin; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; siblings, Norma Rae Brewer, John (Shar) Turner, Mary (Jacque) Alverson, Angie Fenning & Pam McIntosh; as well as many other close family & friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Edith Oaks, Loretta Butler, Ella Miller, her twin sister, Janet Faith Brewer & Jim Turner; her son, Timothy John Griffin; grandson, Matthew J. Hess; and two great grandchildren, Hayden Renee Hess & DeMiyah Shaielle Adams.

Funeral Service will be Saturday, January 3, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of God in Jesus, 5604 West Alexandria Rd., Middletown, with Pastor Rodney Griffin officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the church. Entombment will be at Woodside Mausoleum. All are welcome to join the family back at the church for food and fellowship.
