**In Loving Memory of Marti Baker**
Marti Baker, age 67, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Middletown on February 17, 1957 to Frank and Martha (Piedel) Cavanaugh, Marti was a woman who lived life with a needle in one hand and a witty comeback in the other.
An avid artisan, she transformed simple materials into masterpieces; stitching together love and creativity with every item she made. Whether it was mending a tear or crafting something entirely new, she found joy and fulfillment in the art of sewing—especially if it meant making something special for her family and friends. She also loved to be outdoors; working in the yard and caring for her Clydesdales were a few of the other passions that brought her joy.
Marti worked at Montgomery County ESC for 20 years, where she was beloved by her coworkers, not just for her work ethic, but for her infectious sense of humor. Known for her sharp wit and snarky personality; Marti had a way of lighting up a room and bringing laughter to even the most mundane of moments.
Her love for her family and friends was boundless. She was a devoted mother, sister, and friend who always made sure that those she cared about were wrapped in love (and often in a handmade scarf). She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, strength, and an unmatched ability to laugh through life’s challenges.
Marti is survived by her sons, Bobby Baker & Ben (Heather) Baker; sister, Vicki Handy; brothers, Mike Cavanaugh & Steve (Jana) Cavanaugh; grandson, Ruxli Baker; as well as numerous other family members, who will forever cherish her blunt humor, loving spirit, and all the memories woven into the fabric of their lives. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved aunt, Rose Marie Steere.
