Lucille Gilbert died peacefully with family at her side at the age of 97 on July 21,2023. She was born in Powhatan Point, Ohio to the late Nancy and Austin Kennedy. She is also preceded in death by sisters, Anne Shockey, Ruth Williams, Geneva Isabel, Wanda Delver, Ina Patton, Della Hart, and brother Tom Kennedy. She was also preceded in death by her husband Robert Gilbert.
Lucille lived a long life and survived the Great Depression valuing hard work. During WWII she assisted the war effort by building airplanes and held the title of “Rosie the Riveter''. She remained patriotic as she was a member of the VFW of Warren County Ladies Auxiliary for over 50 years. During her younger years, she enjoyed bowling and fishing. She was an avid bird watcher and loved dogs. Her most important role she held was of a fine family matriarch leaving a long legacy of 3 children, 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 10 great great-grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking on holidays and attending family functions. She loved giving gifts and always had a caring heart and a kind word of advice.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons Danny Mark (Gay) Pennington of Rancho Palos Verdes, California and Eric (Prescilla) Gilbert of Franklin, Ohio and one daughter Gail (Gary) Morman of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Grandchildren; Karen, Larissa, Kelley, Roy, and Brandy. Her great-grandchildren; Dustin, Cody, Dylan H., Skyler, Chelsie, Ryan, Marcus, Anjelei, Isaiah, and Dylan L. She also leaves another generation of 10 great great-grandchildren; Odin, Leilani, Aria, Silas, Luca, Anthony, Hutson, Amari, Sven and Apollo. Her family was her heart and she was the heart of the family. Lucille will be deeply missed by all who knew her and the lives she touched.
Funeral Service will be Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd (at Bonita Dr.), Middletown, with Pastor Harold Cottom officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Woodside Cemetery and Arboretum Mausoleum.
