Josephine Soppanish, 93, of Middletown, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2013, at Atrium Medical Center with her family by her side.
She was born in Middletown on April 17, 1920 to Ignos & Josephine Osust, and married John Soppanish. Mr. & Mrs. Soppanish were married for 59 years. Mrs. Soppanish was formally employed by the Middletown School System from 1970 - 1981. She and her husband were the owners of Johnny's Pony Keg on Yankee Rd. for 32 years.
Mrs. Soppanish was preceded in death by her husband, John; parents; and sisters, Mary Barnes & Margaret Hopkins. She is survived by her son, John (Sue) Soppanish; daughter, Jo Ann (Fred) Cranford; brother, Thomas (Jackie) Osust; sister, Charlotte (Vern) Helton; grandchildren, John I. (Rhonda) Soppanish, Billy (Tracey) Soppanish, Jennifer (Mark) Atkinson, Fred M. (Betsy) Cranford & Julie (Kevin) Gibson; and 15 great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, September 5, 2013 at 12:30 pm at Holy Family Parish - St. John's Church, 1405 First Avenue, Middletown with Father John Civille as celebrant. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 - 12:00 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
