James “Gene” Haney, 76, of Trenton, died Thursday, May 20, 2004, at his residence. He was born in Smiles, Kentucky on March 11, 1928 to parents James A. and Mertie F. (Conn) Haney.
Mr. Haney worked as a pipe fitter for McGraw Construction, retiring in 1989 after 40 years of service. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of the Pipe Fitters # 392, Loyal Order of Moose # 501, Eagles #3458, and American Legion Post #218. He was also a hall of fame bowler.
Gene is survived by his wife, Connie Viann (Reek) Haney of Trenton; five daughters, Tammy (Brian) Young of Middletown, OH, Belinda (Harvey) Robert of W. Monroe, LA, Ruthanne (Bill) Sloas of Paintsville, KY, Regina Malone of Monticello, KY, and Sherry Black of Philadelphia, PA; four sons, Roy (Nicci) Haney of Middletown, OH, Richard Muncie of Richmond, IN, Rodney (Vicki) Haney of Charleston, WV, and Jim Conn of Monticello, KY; three sisters, Imogene (Willard) Albert of Carrollton, OH, Mary Lou Powell of Middletown, OH, and Vivian (Jim) Byrd of Spruce Pine, NC; two brothers, Robert (Gayle) Haney of Somerville, OH, and Gary Haney of Middletown, OH; 26 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Timothy Muncie in 1983; and a brother, Harold Lee Haney.
Funeral Service will be held Monday, May 24, 2004 at 2:00 PM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. at Bonita Dr., with Reverend Keith Spencer officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, from 2-5 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at Butler County Memorial Park.
