Gary L. Gingerich, 78, of Middletown, passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2025 at the Dayton VA Medical Center. He was born in Hamilton on June 10, 1947 to parents, Charles R. and Ella M. (Colwell) Gingerich.
Gary was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, having served in both Vietnam and South Korea. Following the service he continued to serve and protect by becoming a K-9 police officer. He worked with the City of Middletown Police Department for 37 years, retiring as Detective in 2012. He received several commendations while with the department. Following his retirement, he worked with the Middletown City Water Department. In his spare time, Gary enjoyed camping and riding his motorcycle. He was a member of the DAV, AMVETS, VFW Post 3809, American Legion Post 218, FOP Lodge #36, Eagles Aerie 528, AFSCME Local 856 and the Goldwing Road Riders.
Above all, Gary loved his family and he will be greatly missed by his daughter, Lisa L. (Richard Stein) Haddix; sister, Joyce (Walter) McCullom; grandchildren, Samantha (Sarah) Hoffman, Kyle (Hayley) French & Jonathan Cooke; and great grandson, Landon Hoffman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Tracy Cooke.
Funeral Service will be Monday, September 22, 2025 at 12:00 noon at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd (at Bonita Dr.), Middletown with Pastor Jim Winters officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon at the funeral home. Interment will be at Butler County Memorial Park with military honors conducted by the Middletown Combined Honor Guard.
