Charles R. Day, 74 of Middletown, Ohio passed away on Friday, Aug. 2, 2013 at Atrium Medical Center. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on January 26, 1939 and was a lifelong Middletown resident. He attended St. John's grade school and graduated from Fenwick High School in 1957 and attended U. C. College of Conservatory of Music - Broadcasting Department. He began his TV career at WLW-T in Cincinnati and then transferred to WLW-D in Dayton (now WDTN), where he worked as a news and sports videographer for forty four years, retiring in 2004. He was honored with two regional Emmy awards during his career. He also was inducted into the Dayton Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2005 and inducted into the Fenwick High School Alumni Hall of Achievement for his lifetime career accomplishments. He married Linda K. Beier in 1959 and they are the parents of five children. He was a former member of Ohio News Photographers Association and was awarded lifetime achievement status. He was a former member of the Middletown Police Reserve Officers, a lifelong member of Holy Family Parish and the Middletown Area Senior Center.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda, five children; Kathleen (Dan) Hulbert, Jeffrey (DeMarie) Day, Eric Day, Amy Ryder and Christopher (Megan) Day; thirteen grandchildren; Ashley and Joshua Day, Zachary and Remington Ryder, Riley and Ryan Day, Noah, Micah and Eliana Day, Emerson and Chase Day and Madison and Reese Burt; two great-grandsons, Logan and Dalton Lott; sister-in-law, Ginger Beier; niece Heather (Adam) Ross and nephew Ryan (Miki) Beier and their children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Frances Day and brother-in-law Edward Beier.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at Holy Family Parish / St. John's Church, 1405 First Avenue, Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013 at 10:00 AM with Father John Civille as celebrant. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home. Interment will be at Woodhill Cemetery in Franklin, Ohio.
