William L. Anthony

William L. “Bill” Anthony, 74, of Middletown, died Wednesday, September 28, 2005, at Dayton Heart Hospital. He was born in Middletown, on June 30, 1931 to parents Homer A. and Goldie C. (Reed) Anthony.

Bill served his country in the United States Air Force for 4 years and worked for Dayton Local 224 Sheet Metal Workers. He was an avid woodcarver for 20 years, teaching at the Middletown Fine Arts Center, and giving lessons from his shop at home. He was a member of the National Woodcarvers Association, Brukner Nature Woodcarvers, and the Miami Valley Woodcarvers Association. He has won numerous awards for his woodcarving. He was also a member of Christ United Methodist Church and worked on various committees.

Mr. Anthony is survived by his loving family, his wife of 53 ½ years, Pat (Selby) Anthony of Middletown; his son, Todd Anthony of Middletown; his daughter, Michele (Kenneth) Ferguson of Carlisle; one sister, Helen (Gene) Wilson of Middletown; two brothers, Jack (Doris) Anthony of Bradenton, FL and Mark (Jane) Anthony of Atwater, OH; sisters-in-law, Jeanette Lovely of Ellenton, FL and Carole Robinson of Middletown; seven grandchildren, T.J. & Aimee Anthony, Michael & Daniele Adkins, and Tiffany, Brittany, & Josh Ferguson; three great grandchildren, Skylar, Bryce, & Brennan; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Thomas Anthony; and two sisters-in-law, Kathleen Agoston-Hewitt and Elaine Neill.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, October 1, 2005 at 12:00 NOON at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. (at Bonita Dr.) with Reverend Lisa Ellison officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10-12 NOON at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Woodside Mausoleum.
