Wayne Thomas Mcguire

Wayne Thomas McGuire, age 88, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 24, 2014 at his home in Monroe, Ohio. He was born on July 6, 1925 in Blairs Mills, Kentucky to parents, Roosevelt and Viola (Sargent) McGuire.

Wayne grew up in Middletown, Ohio and graduated from Middletown High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving 10 years, he was a veteran of both WW II and the Korean War. During WW II, while stationed in Italy, he met his wife of 63 years, Valnea (Fulan) McGuire.

He resigned from the Army in 1952, with the rank of Master Sargent. He worked at Armco Steel Corporation, retiring in 1986 after 32 years of service. He then worked several years for Sears in the Auto Center Department. He was a member of the American Legion Post 218, VFW 3809, Masonic Lodge and Shriners.

He is survived by his wife, Valnea and their sons, Michael McGuire of Fairfield, Ohio and Terry (Teresa) McGuire of Monroe, Ohio; brothers, Rodney (Christine) McGuire, Jack McGuire of Monroe and Roosevelt Jr. (Holly) McGuire of Mason, Ohio; sisters Zola McGuire Atkinson of Middletown, Darlene (Dale) McGuire Gibbs of Monroe and sister-in-law, Betty McGuire of Monroe. He was blessed with 3 granddaughters, Rachel (Ty) McGuire Reynolds of Monroe, Ohio; Maria (Jason) McGuire Perillo of Gansevoort, New York, Rebecca (Matt) McGuire Campbell of Cincinnati, Ohio and grandson Brennan McGuire of Hamilton, Ohio; great grandchildren, Trace, Bryce and Mason Renyolds, Joey and Michael Perillo, and Lucy and Lilly Campbell.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Wada McGuire South and brother, Harlan (Clay) McGuire.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at 12 pm at the chapel at Woodside Cemetery, 1401 Woodside Blvd., Middletown with Rev. Terry Ball officiating. Visitation will be from 10 am-12 pm at the chapel prior to services. Entombment will be in the Woodside Cemetery mausoleum where military rites will be conducted by the Middletown Combined Honor Guard.
