Thomas J. Coyle, 91, died Thursday, July 11, 2013.
He was born August 10, 1921 to Robert & Lucille (Deller) Coyle. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1939. He worked at The Raymond Bag Company until being drafted into the United States Army in 1942. He was deployed to Europe in July 1944. He served as a sergeant in the 318th Battalion under General Patton. He received the Bronze Star and Battle Honors for fighting in the Battle of the Bulge. His unit also liberated a concentration camp in Poland.
Tom worked for Aeronca for 23 years as a lab technician and retired from Armco Steel Company after 10 years of service in the Research department.
Tom was ordained a Deacon at St. Peter in Chains Cathedral in Cincinnati in 1978. He served Holy Trinity/Holy Family Parish for 30 years. He volunteered at Middletown Regional Hospital and delivered Meals on Wheels. He was a member of the YMCA for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary K. Coyle, brother Robert Coyle and sisters Marie Ormiston and Margaret Coyle. His survivors include his daughters Maryrose (Dave) Schiering, Anne (Don) Horn and son Thomas (Sharon)Coyle; grandchildren Robert (Kristin) Schiering, Hannah, Brian (Bora) & Brendan Schiering & Abigail (Mike)Bambrick; brothers James, Daniel & Joseph (Marialta) Coyle, sisters Joan Coyle, Geri (Bob) Knierim, Toni (Vic) Seidel, Susie Coyle.
Special thanks to Garden Manor for their exceptional care, Hospice Care of Middletown & Visiting Angels who made Tom's last days comfortable.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday July 15, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Parish-Holy Trinity Church with Fr. John Civille as celebrant. Visitation will be Sunday July 14, 2013 from 2-4 PM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. (at Bonita Dr.). Interment will be at Butler County Memorial Park
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul c/o Holy Family Parish and Hospice Care of Middletown.
