Phyllis Ann Deweese Morgan

Phyllis Ann Gamboe DeWeese Morgan, of Middletown, passed away December 21, 2016, at Mt. Pleasant Retirement Village, Monroe, Ohio at the age of 79. Born December 12, 1937 in Hamilton, Ohio to the late Esther (Purdy) and Phillip Gamboe. She was a 1955 graduate of Fairfield High School.

Phyllis is the founder of the Academy of Dance Arts in Middletown. Her ballet credits include studies in major ballet schools in the U.S., Canada and Demark, faculty for the Stone-Camryn School of Ballet, Chicago and Co-ballet Mistress for the Cincinnati Civic Ballet. Other achievements include choreography of seven Middletown Symphony Concerts, the Sorg-Whitewater Opera Company and dance coordinator for the Moscow Ballet Company's Nutcracker. She provided education for the Kids in College program at Miami University and numerous other academia. Phyllis DeWeese is listed in the Profiles of Middletown Women book and has received a MiddFest Volunteer Award for the Academy of Dance Arts. Middletown's Mayor proclaimed July 30th as "Phyllis DeWeese Day" in Middletown due to her multiple contributions and respect of the community. She was an avid traveler, going to Russia, Japan, China, Norway and England. Also traveling the United States, including Alaska extensively.

She is survived by her late husband's children, her sister-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her late husband Sherrill DeWeese (Terrace Park, Ohio) and Ken Morgan (Middletown, Ohio), as well as her two sisters and two brothers, Marybelle Reuther, Patrick Bishop, Virginia Blevens and Marshall "Bill" Bishop.

Memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 12:00 noon at First Presbyterian Church, 2910 Central Ave., Middletown with Reverend Chris Bailey officiating.
