Omer "Ted" Fugate

July 12, 1918 — October 7, 2018

Omer “Ted” Fugate, 100, a resident of Naples, Florida and formerly of Middletown, Ohio passed peacefully in Naples on October 7, 2018, surrounded by his family.

Ted was born on July 12, 1918 in Estill County, Kentucky, a son of the late James G. & Bertha Sparks Fugate. He moved with his family to Middletown in 1929 and married Lillian "Ginny" Harrison on July 14, 1939. They were married 61 years before she passed in 2000. Ted retired from General Motors Frigidaire Division in Dayton Ohio in 1972, and moved to Naples Florida to join his family in 1988. Teddy and his family and friends enjoyed celebrating his life recently on his 100th birthday at his favorite dining place. His family is so thankful for that special memory. He lived a life where family always came first. He always cared more about people than things and he made that evident in the way he lived his life. His chuckle, his jokes, his chocolates, his giving nature and his beautiful blue eyes will be missed by so many.

Ted is survived by his daughter, Robin Weidle; son-in-law, Tim; daughter-in-law, Betty Fugate; three grandchildren, Timothy Scott (Vicki) Weidle, Lisa (Tom) Giblin and Nikki (Tim) Felts; and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian “Ginny” Fugate and son, Omer Ray "Ted" Fugate. Also preceding him in death were his siblings, Cecil Fugate, Owen Fugate, Alma Trimble, Sarah Fraley & Irene Price; half-sisters, Mollie Proffitt, Ollie Adams & Eula Click; brothers/sisters-in-law, Ruby Gibbons, LaVeda McGraw Olney, Sarah Schrader, John Harrison Sr., Robert Harrison Jr., Raymond Harrison, Barbara Burdge & Paul Harrison.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with entombment at Woodside Mausoleum in Middletown.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to Avow Hospice, 1095 Whippoorwill Lane, Naples, Florida 34105.
