Mrs. Miriam E. Trotta, age 86, went to meet her Heavenly Father on November 8, 2010, at 8:06 p.m.

Mrs. Trotta was born Miriam Eulalie Newman on May 21, 1924, in Biloxi, Mississippi. She was one of twelve children of Martin Newman and Ruth Gibson Newman. She worked at Keesler Field in Biloxi during World War II, where she met her future husband. She moved to Cincinnati, Ohio after her marriage to John J. Trotta on December 8, 1945.

After the family relocated to Middletown in 1957, they became members of St. John's Church. Since moving to Monroe in 1975, they have been members of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Mrs. Trotta retired from the City of Middletown.

Mrs. Trotta is survived by her three sons: John J. Trotta, Jr. (Patricia) of Jamestown, NC; Ronald C. Trotta (Elly) of New York City and Mark E. Trotta (Margaret) of Woodbridge, VA; four grandsons: Michael A. Trotta of Ashburn, VA; Matthew R. Trotta (Kay) of Charlotte, NC; M. Andrew Trotta (Sarah) of Charlotte, NC; and Nicholas L. Trotta of Athens, GA; one granddaughter, Alison Grace McKenzie (Matt) of Knoxville, TN; a great-grandson Conner McKenzie of Knoxville, TN; sister, Leona Lesko of Florence, MA, and brother, Tommy Newman of Biloxi, MS. She also has numerous nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews in the Gulf Coast area.

Mrs. Trotta was preceded in death by her beloved husband, her parents; five sisters: Marguerite Spear, Helen Lang, Delphine Budine, Lillian McDonnell and Nettie Mae Riddle; and four brothers: Herbert Newman, Willard Newman and Donald "D.J." Newman and Paul Newman of Biloxi, MS.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, November 12, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 330 Lebanon St., Monroe with Father Edward Pratt as celebrant. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 10:00 – 11:00 at the church. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
