Michael E. "Jake” Jacobs, 48, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Alabama. He was born in Floyd County, Kentucky on September 25, 1974.
Jake graduated from Knott County Central High School, where he played baseball, and then attended Lindsey Wilson College before deciding to join the United States Army. He served several tours overseas in Kosovo, Kuwait/Iraq, Afghanistan and Korea and received multiple medals for his service. He retired as a Staff Sergeant from the Army in 2012. He loved being outdoors, riding his bike, fishing, and especially playing golf.
Jake was very respected, and at the same time adored, by everyone who knew him. He took the time to truly care when he asked how you were doing. And then would give the BEST hugs ever if he thought you needed one. He was a beloved husband, “father”, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend.
Jake is survived by his wife, Rebecca Jacobs and their fur-baby, Anna; children, Craig (Jess) Branan, Eric Branan, Chelsi (Ryan) Dempsey & Kaitlyn (Kyle) Hunteman; grandchildren, Briley, Emily, Blake, Dottie and one more on the way; mother-in-law, Nancy Osborne; brother & sisters-in-law, Mike (Jamie) Osborne, Melodie (Rusty) Rickard & Deanna (Brian) Bush; his father, Earl (Candy) Jacobs; mother, Judy Jacobs; sister, Michele Jacobs; nephews, Shade & Stone; and a band of brothers in the military.
