Jack Kiesewetter

John R. "Jack" Kiesewetter, 96, of Middletown, died March 5, 2012. He was born in Middletown on Aug 6, 1915, to John C. & Mary (Shanesy) Kiesewetter. Jack worked 44 years for Armco, retiring in 1978 as a Clerical Service Supervisor. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army (1941-45) including 2 ½ years as a Master Sergeant at Army headquarters on Guadalcanal. At Armco he was past chairman of the Armco Technical Operating & Discussion Group, and chaired membership drives for Red Cross, YMCA & American Legion. He and his late wife, Eileen, helped found the Fenwick Arts & Music Association (FAMA) in 1966, and were responsible in 1996 for reorganizing the Armco/AK Steel Retirees Reunion in Bradenton, Fla. He was a member of Holy Family Parish, the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Armco Veteran's Club, Guadalcanal Campaign Veterans, and the Lionel Collectors Club.

Eileen preceded him in death in 2003. Survivors include daughters Karen Olson of Buffalo, N.Y., and Kathy (George) Herron of Middletown, sons John (Sue) Kiesewetter II of Fairfield and Russ E. Kiesewetter of LaGrange, Ky.; a sister, Margaret Ann Miller of Middletown; 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be noon Saturday, March 10, at Holy Family Parish-Holy Trinity Church, 201 Clark St, with Father John Civille as celebrant. Visitation will be 5-8 pm Friday at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. Burial in Woodside Cemetery with military honors conducted by Middletown Combined Honor Guard.
