Homer D. Brate, 80, of Carlisle, died Thursday, September 22, 2005. He was born in Middletown, on May 22, 1925 to parents Ray and Nora Ristaneo.

Mr. Brate served his country in the United States Army during World War II and received two bronze stars. He worked as a master builder and also owned a trucking company. He enjoyed restoring cars.

Homer is survived by his wife, Opal P. (Taylor) Brate; one daughter, Sherry (Larry) Walsh of Franklin; one son, Nolan (Laura) Brate of Carlisle; and four granddaughters, Amanda Brate, Lindsay Brate, Dawn Brate, and Holly Hurt.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Service will be held Thursday, September 29, 2005 at 12:00 NOON at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. (at Bonita Dr.) with Reverend Norm Meadows officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10-12 NOON at the funeral home. Interment will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
