Frederick W. Finney

Fred Finney, son of Della (Barker) and Vernon Finney passed away on March 4, 2023 at the age of 95.

Fred was a Trenton High School graduate, the class of 1945. He then served in the US Air Force during the end of World War II. Fred attended Anderson College in Indiana and began working at Armco Steel. He retired from the accounting department after 40 years.

Fred married Phyllis Hatfield on July 9, 1955 and they were married for 65 years. He was active in the Middletown community, especially with the schools. Fred was the PTO President of Mayfield Elementary and Verity Middle School; then served 12 years on the Middletown/Monroe Board of Education. During his time on the Board of Education he served as a representative to the Butler County Joint Vocational School Board. In the past few years, he has enjoyed meeting his friends and family at the VFW Post 3809 or at Triple Moon Coffee Shop.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James, Paul and Ralph; sisters, Betty Townsend and Norma Medley; nephew Jim Finney; and nieces, Becky Rowe and Yvonne Medley. He is survived by his daughters, Diane (Stu) Wilson of Monroe and Jane (Doug) Blazer of Middletown; grandson, Adam (Anne) Wilson of Monroe; brother in law, Dynzel (Barb) Hatfield of Middletown; and his loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be Friday, March 10, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd (at Bonita Dr.), Middletown, Ohio. Visitation will be Thursday, March 9, 2023 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
