Evelyn Martin

Evelyn Martin, 86, of Trenton, Ohio, died on Monday, May 12, 2003, at her home in Trenton, after a long illness. She was born in Madison County, Kentucky on April 11, 1917 to parents Thomas and Ethel (Todd) Poff. She lived in the Trenton area of Butler County since childhood.

Evelyn worked as a receptionist for the P. Lorillard Company and at the Ohio Casualty Insurance Company, retiring in 1982. She loved sports and was one of the all-time great women´s fast pitch softball players of Butler County, as well as an avid bowler.

Evelyn is survived by her husband of 58 years, Herbert J. Martin of Trenton; one daughter: Marcia (Steve) Markham of Trenton; one son: Greg (Becky) Martin of Middletown; granddaughters, Stephanie Markham, Angela Markham, Tracy (Jon) Baker, Megan Hurr, Susan Hurr and Mallory Hurr; great granddaughter, Lauren Baker and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Oscar, Chester, Dewey, & Price Poff, and sisters, Pearl Scholl, Edith Kimble, Jeanette Wilder, and Clara Gardner.

Funeral Service will be held Friday, May 16, 2003 at 2:00 PM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. at Bonita Dr., with Reverend Eric Newell officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be at Miltonville Cemetery.
