Ervin W. Propps

Ervin W. Propps, 84, of Monroe, died Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at Hospice of Butler and Warren Counties. He was born in Ferry, Ohio on April 6, 1926 to parents Elmer L. and S. Nora (Wardlow) Propps.

Ervin started hauling milk for area farmers when he was 16 years old. He worked for Vaughn Building Company of Ohio in Hamilton for 28 years and retired from Dyna Con Packaging in 1991. He was a World War II Navy veteran and member of VFW Post #3809. He was a member of Monroe United Methodist Church where he served as an usher, was one of Monroe's first part-time police officers, served 10 years on the Lemon Township Cemetery Board and 26 years on the North Monroe Cemetery Board, was a member & past Master of High Point Lodge #773 F & AM, member & past President of Middletown Antioch Shrine Club, member of Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, Middletown Chapter #87, Middletown Council #136, Middletown Commandry #71, Middletown York Rite and I.O.O.F. Miami Lodge #89, Middletown Encampment # 323, Queen Esther-Rebecca Lodge # 150.

Mr. Propps is survived by his wife of 33 years, Frances A. (Burgemeir) Propps; four step-sons, Barry A. (Myron) Propps, Charles R. Propps, M. Rick (Becky) Propps and Timothy W. Propps; one brother, Robert E. Propps; 8 step grandchildren; 7 step great grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Charles E. Propps and M. Hank Propps.

Funeral Service will be held Monday, June 28, 2010 at 11:00 am at Monroe United Methodist Church, 206 East Ave., Monroe with Reverend Dr. Tim Waugh officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 - 5:00 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown with Masonic and Scottish Rite Ring services at 4:00 pm and I.O.O.F. services at 4:30 pm. Interment will be at North Monroe Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Middletown Combined Honor Guard.

Memorial donations may be made to Monroe United Methodist Church, 206 East Ave., Monroe, OH 45050 – OR – the charity of donor's choice.
