Elizabeth Addison Akers

Elizabeth Addison Akers, 78, long time resident of Middletown, died Tuesday, February 15, 2005, at Middletown Regional Hospital. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on March 14, 1926 to parents Griffith Thomas and Lillian (Veazey) Addison.

Elizabeth graduated from University of Cincinnati in 1948, with a degree in chemistry. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Middletown. She was a member of P.E.O. and formerly served as president. She was a volunteer for Planned Parenthood, delivered Meals-on-Wheels for Middletown Hospital, was former president of the Mt. Pleasant Resident´s Association and co-chaired the auctions at Mt. Pleasant with her husband.

Elizabeth is survived by her husband of 55 years, Robert H. Akers of Monroe; two daughters, Barbara (Dennis) Terry of Grand Rapids, MI, and Patricia (Scott) Tornquist of Mason City, IA; two sons, Richard (Peggy) Akers of Portland, ME, and David (Jean) Akers of West Springfield, MA; and six grandchildren, Ann, Diego, Ben, & Josephine Akers, and Nathan & Matthew Tornquist.

Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 19, 2005 at 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church, 2910 Central Ave., Middletown, with Chaplain Stan Gockel, Reverend Lawrence T. Doty, and David Akers officiating. The family will receive friends at a reception following the service.
