Dr. E.C. Peck

Dr. E.C. Peck, 94, of Monroe – Mount Pleasant Retirement Village, died Wednesday, September 8, 2010. He was born on May 4, 1916 in Stanford, Kentucky.

Dr. Peck was a graduate of Middletown High School in the class of 1934. He received a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from The Ohio State University in 1945. He practiced veterinary medicine in Middletown and Madison Township for 35 years. He was an Honor Roll member and a life member of the American Veterinary Medical Association. He belonged to the Alpha Phi fraternity and was an honorary member of the Phi Zeta fraternity. He also belonged to the O.S.U. Veterinary Alumni Society. For many years Dr. Peck served as a member and president of the Madison School District Board of Education. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Middletown for 60 years.

Dr. Peck was admired for his many talents. He was known for his many carvings of animals and walking canes. He loved growing beautiful flowers.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Ida Mae; daughter-in-law, Carol Peck; son-in-law, Phil (Yvonne) Brewer; grandchildren, Angela (Kevin) Fanning, Kimberli (David) Steele, Michelle (Jason) Crosley and Stephen (Flavia) Brewer; five great grandsons and two great granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Jo Brewer; son, John D. Peck; and brothers, Clyde, Curtis, Robert & Leslie Peck

The family would like to thank the caretakers at Mount Pleasant Retirement Village and the Hospice staff for their loving care and kindness given to Ed.

Memorial service will be held Saturday, September 11, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Mary H. Kittredge Chapel at Mt. Pleasant Retirement Village, 225 Britton Lane, Monroe with Reverend L. Timothy Doty and Chaplain Karen Fleming officiating. Private family entombment will be prior to the service at Woodside Cemetery.
