Donald Edward Hoyt

March 10, 1940 — February 17, 2016

Donald Edward Hoyt, currently of Middletown, Ohio and originally of Rochester, New York, died suddenly in his sleep at his home on Wednesday, February 17, 2016.

Mr. Hoyt is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Patricia J. (Gaylord) and his loving children; son Donald J., daughters Donna & husband Paul, Patty & husband Kevin, Michele & husband Scott, Juanita & husband Bob, Suzanne & husband Jeff, Tammy & husband Chris and 11 grandchildren.

Don was a lifelong gardener and you could always find him outside. He was an avid follower of weather trends, an aviation enthusiast and was a loyal friend always willing to lend a hand. Besides his love of gardening, he was a creative local artist who specialized in the design and building of birdhouses, and his artistry had a loyal following. He also loved to find ways to repair and refurbish many things for himself and others. He was a very musical person who could play any wind instrument with the saxophone being his personal favorite. Don served in the US Army in the band and worked 30 years for Owens Illinois until retiring to Ohio.

Don devoted his life to his family and worked hard in every aspect of his life – never sitting still and never complaining. He was a dedicated husband and family man and will be dearly missed.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
