Delores J. Smith

Delores J. Smith, 91, of Middletown, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 2, 2023 at Arlington Pointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Kiefer, Oklahoma on May 19, 1931 to parents, Leroy Anderson and Goldie Mae (Reed) Rinehart.

Delores lived a full life as a mother, sister, aunt and friend. She cared deeply for her family and neighbors. She appreciated the mother role and extended nurture, empathy and compassion to more than her own children. She was a homemaker; the matriarch of the family. She also worked as the accountant of the family business, Jack's Alignment. She enjoyed being surrounded by friends and family, playing a game of rummy, watching Golden Girls and an ice cream treat. Those sparkling baby blue eyes lit up when she had a baby on her lap. She was a member of Holy Family Parish - Holy Trinity Church in Middletown, Ohio.

Delores is survived by her four children; Kristi Smith, Pam (Bill) Groves, Tim (Sandi) Smith & Vicki (Terry) McAtee; her brother, George Rinehart; and her sister, Joyce Taylor. She was a very proud grandmother to six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and had many nieces, nephews and cousins that she adored so much.

At the age of nineteen, Delores married the love of her life, John T. "Jack" Smith. They were married for 31 years before he was taken too soon, in 1981. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and special companion, John Kramer.

Memorial Mass will be Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at 10:00 am at Holy Family Parish - Holy Trinity Church, 201 Clark Street, Middletown with Father John Civille as celebrant. Family will receive friends for a reception after the service at the Holy Family Center. Inurnment will follow the reception, at Woodside Cemetery & Arboretum.
