Dan S. Humphreys

Dan S. Humphreys, 87, of Middletown, died Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at Melech Hospice House in Tampa, Florida. He was born in Middletown on March 17, 1927 to parents Howard S. and Lydia (Mincher) Humphreys.

Dan graduated from Middletown High School in 1945 and served his country in the United States Army in Germany during World War II in the field of communications. When he returned home he went on to graduate from Miami University in 1950. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, American Legion Post 218, VFW Post 3809, the Red & White Club at Miami and was a 60 year member of Wildwood Golf Club. Dan worked for WPFB Radio for 60 years, serving as an account executive. He was the "Voice of the Middies" for many years as sportscaster for Middletown and surrounding area high schools as well as Miami University Football & Basketball. He was active in establishing Miami's Radio Station WMUB

Mr. Humphreys is survived by his sons, Dan Humphreys & Stuart (Renee) Humphreys; daughter, Carole Wyman; grandchildren, Bryan Humphreys, Renee (Corey) Johnston, Cheryl (Ben) Seifert, Christopher Humphreys, Megan Humphreys, Jeffrey Zorn & Shawn Conwell; great grandchildren, Connor Humphreys, Liam Humphreys, Jude Johnston, Reed Johnston & Peyton Seifert; stepdaughters, Debbie (Phil) Zorn & Kathy Conwell; cousin, Nancy Cole; and special friend, Gerri Humphreys.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Howard M. 'Bud' Humphreys; & sister-in-law, Viola Humphreys.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 12:00 Noon at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown with Reverend Greg Gibson officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 - 12:00 pm. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Middletown Combined Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to Alzheimer's Association/Greater Cincinnati Chapter, 644 Linn St., Suite 1026, Cincinnati, OH 45203.
