Charlotte E. Moon

Charlotte E. (Leighton) Moon, 95, of Middletown, died Thursday, October 25, 2018, at home. She was born in Middletown on May 12, 1923 to parents John Mosby and Alice May (Williams) Leighton.

Charlotte was a graduate of Middletown High School in 1941 and Miami University in 1945, earning a double major in Biology and Physical Education. She taught at East High School in Columbus, Monroe High School and also was an instructor at Miami University. Charlotte volunteered many years with Doty House (now Abilities First) having served on their board of directors and was their first woman president. She was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church, former member of the Town & Country Garden Club and the Nomads, was an avid golfer at Forest Hills Country Club and enjoyed playing bridge.

Mrs. Moon is survived by her daughter, Deborah E. (Craig) Salser; son, Craig T. (Melanie) Moon; grandchildren, Talbott C. (Saralyn) Moon, Adria E. Moon & Molly Salser; and great grandchildren, John Oliver Moon & Ignatius Talbott Moon. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Thomas V. Moon in 2015; parents; sister, Alice May Prows; and brother, Les Leighton.

Funeral Service will be held Monday, October 29, 2018 at 10:00 am at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown with Reverend Michael Isaacs officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 9:30 - 10:00 am. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
