Charles P. Terhune II, 80, of Lebanon, died Friday, July 4, 2003 at Otterbein Retirement Community. He was born on February 22, 1923 to Louis Lawton Terhune and Mary M. Terhune Gullet in Cincinnati. Upon graduation from high school Charles attended the Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, Ok. He then went on to become a First Lieutenant in the Army Air Corp., where he served in England and France during WWII in the 310th Troop Carrier Grp..
Charles later attended George Washington University where he met his wife Betty. He earned his realtors license in1958 and then in 1962 he earned his brokers license and started Charles P.Terhune Realtor which he ran until he retired in 1993. He was a member and Past President of the Middletown Board of Realtors, and was named Realtor of the Year in 1984 for his outstanding service in the reality business. Charles was a member of the Miami Conservancy District Board for 17 years, the Middletown Public Library Board where he served as Chairman for the Library Building Committee. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Middletown and was also district member of the Methodist Union. He was also a member of the Middletown Safety Council. Charles was an avid photographer and a member of the Leica Historical Society of America. In addition to photography Charles enjoyed traveling and attending the Indy 500.
Charles is survived by two sons, Charles P. (Mary Ann) Terhune Jr. of Middletown and William R. (Stacy) Terhune of Muncie, In.; and three grandchildren, Charles P. IV, John L., and Ann M. Tehune.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty M.(Munson) Terhune, who died on April 29, 2003; his parents; and a son Douglas A. Terhune.
Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist, 120 S. Broad St. in Middletown, with Pastor Ryan Chivington officiating.
