Betty J. Williams

Betty J. (Newkirk) Williams, 70, of Middletown, died on February 7, 2006, at Middletown Regional Hospital. She was born in Stanton, Kentucky on April 25, 1935 to parents Roscoe and Gertrude (Garrett) Newkirk.

Mrs. Williams retired from Middletown Regional Hospital in 1995. She participated regularly in the gatherings of her high school classmates and was on the committee for their 50th class reunion. She was a very active member of Middletown Charter Chapter, American Business Women´s Association for 15 years, serving on several committees, creating centerpieces for meeting tables, and being known as the ´good cheer lady´ for sending cards and notes of encouragement to members. She was named their Woman of the Year for 2005. She also participated in the Breast Cancer Survivors group and in many church activities at Breiel Blvd. Church of God.

Betty is survived by her husband, Jim D. Williams; one daughter, Ginger (Dr. Farid) Amirouche of Highland Park, IL; three sons, Tim (Dottie) Williams of Middletown, Tad (Marilyn) Williams of Springfield, and Robert Tracy (Michelle) Williams of Ashland, KY; brother, Bob (Carol) Newkirk of Middletown; grandchildren, Matthew (fiance Leighanne), Patrick (Mary), Dana, Anna, Larby, and Anissa; step brothers, Ron (Mary) Turner and Chauncy (Billie) Turner, both of Franklin; step mother, Della Newkirk of Middletown; as well as many nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, February 11, 2006 at 10:00 AM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. (at Bonita Dr.) with Rev. Dr. Eric Newell officiating. Visitation will be Friday, from 5-8 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
