Wanda Benninghoff

Wanda Lou Benninghoff, 76, of Monroe, Ohio, died on August 10, 2007, at Bethesda North Hospital. She was born in Fostoria, Ohio on June 3, 1931 to parents Harry and Bessie (Dewald) Souder.

Wanda Lou was a beloved wife, a devoted mother and a treasured grandmother. Wanda graduated from Fostoria HS in 1949, Miami University and 1974 and also received her Masters in Education from there. She taught for 18 years in the Greenhills and Middletown Public Schools, where she received the special education teacher of the year award. She was a member of Monroe United Methodist Church, where she was the founder of the Monroe UMC Annual Tea and President of the women’s group. She was also member of the Monroe Historical society, she was a Martha Jennings Scholar and she enjoyed sewing, knitting, braiding rugs, scrap booking, refinishing furniture, and playing bridge.

Wanda was preceded in death by her husband Eugene Benninghoff, her parents, sisters Eloise (George) Davis, and Kathryn (Dean) Zartman, brothers, Kenneth (Lee) Souder, Charles (Betty) Souder, Harold Souder, sister-in-law, Mary Alice Souder, and a nephew.

She is survived by three daughters: Sandy (Ed) Sweeney, Gayle (Jim) Ertel, Lynnette (Ray) Warrick; one son: Rick (Debbie) Benninghoff; three brothers: Edward Souder, Lowell (Barbara) Souder, Raymond (Ruth) Souder; grandchildren, David Benninghoff, Heidi Ertel, Abbey Ertel, Ben Ertel, Brennan Sweeney, Patrick Sweeney, Mandy (Tony) Pagano, Michael (Sarah) Shinholser, a great- grandchild Joshua Pagano, sister-in-law, Ruth Souder, and 22 nieces & nephews.

Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at 1:00 PM at Monroe United Methodist Church 206 East Ave. Monroe, Ohio with Reverend Bradford G. Olson officiating. Visitation will be Monday, August 13, 2007 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at WILSON-SCHRAMM-SPAULDING FUNERAL HOME, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown, OH. Interment will be at Mound Cemetery.
