Virginia Blauvelt

Virginia R. Blauvelt, 87, passed away at the Willow Knoll Retirement Community on December 23, 2005. She was born April 29, 1918 in Cincinnati OH, the daughter of Clara and William Volkerding. She is survived by her son Richard Blauvelt (Patricia) of Middletown, granddaughters Julia Blauvelt and Gretchan Senft (Jake) of Middletown and great grandsons Josh and Micah Senft, sister Joan Hardin (Jim) of La Mesa California, cousin , Dick Baylis (Marge) of Cincinnati, nieces, nephews, and one special life long friend, Ollie Randall of Hamilton. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Kenneth, in 2001, parents, step father Roy Conover, and sister Dorothy Messer. Gini, as she was known by her many friends, was active in the public arena with programs on WMOH and appearances on WLW TV. She was the first Welcome Wagon Hostess in Hamilton and the first female Chamber of Commerce executive secretary in Ohio, serving in that position in Fairfield at a critical time in its development. She was the recipient of many honors and awards and enjoyed helping people feel better about themselves through fashion work and laughter clinics. A theme of her work and life was the desire to share God’s love and peace. This combined with her positive outlook on life shared with others resulted in a guest appearance on Robert Schuller’s Hour of Power in 1977. Sadly missed by friends and family. Arrangements will be made at the convenience of the family. Those wishing to do so may make a contribution in Gini’s memory to their favorite charity.
