Russell William Anness, 86, of Middletown, died Sunday, November 30, 2003, in Middletown, after a brief illness. He was born in Middletown, Ohio on October 11, 1917 to parents Russell R. and Lorena (Heiss) Anness.

Russell was a graduate of Middletown High School and Ohio State University. He worked as a mechanical engineer for Gardner Board and Carton Company, Crystal Tissue Company, and was a consultant for Progressive Paper Products. He was a 60 year member and 32nd degree Mason, member of Triangle Fraternity, the Society for Printing House Craftsman, and the Church of the Ascension. He was on the original building committee for Browns Run Country Club.

Russell is survived by his wife of over 53 years, Jeanne (Gill) Anness of Middletown; two daughters, Martha Anness of Guerneville, CA, and Sally (Tom) Gibbons Slattery of Middletown, OH; one son, Tony Anness of Naples, FL; one sister, Evelyn Boone McClain of Middletown, OH; one brother, Harold (Barbara) Anness of Middletown, OH; and twin granddaughters, Emily & Allyn Anness of Bristow, VA.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Service will be held Thursday, December 4, 2003 at 2:00 PM at Church of the Ascension, 2709 McGee Ave., Middletown, with Reverend Walter Mycoff officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30 - 2:00 PM at the church. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
