Mary Louise (Mahoney) Walker passed away Sunday, Nov. 11 in Spring, Texas at the Clouston House Assisted Living Personal Care Home. She was 92 years of age at her death, having been born on April 24, 1915 in Bowling Green, Kentucky to Nell and William F. Mahoney, both of whom preceded her in death.

Mary Lou spent her youth in Bowling Green and graduated from Bowling Green High School in 1933. She attended Western Kentucky University and married Paul C Walker in June of 1935. Paul, the renowned Middletown High School Basketball Coach, preceded her in death in July of 1999. They had been married for over 64 years at the time of his death. She came to live in Middletown in 1946 with her husband when he was named Basketball Coach of the Middies and she lived in Middletown until the spring of 2005 when she relocated to Houston, Texas to live with her son Paul, Jr and his wife, Patti.

Mary Lou returned to college in the 1960’s and graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio with a degree in Education. She then taught fourth grade at Lincoln Elementary School in Middletown for ten years in the late sixties and early seventies. Mary Lou, a lifetime member of the Church of Christ, was a member of the Crosspointe Church of Christ and its predecessors in Middletown for 59 years prior to moving to Texas. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother whose main focus in her life was on her beloved family. She will be remembered for her strong faith, generosity, and humble spirit. Those close to her fondly recall her willingness to “call it as she saw it”, a reflection of her resiliency and stout will.
