Martha Jane Warner

May 1, 1921 — April 27, 2008

Martha Jane Warner, 86, of Gaithersburg, Maryland, died on April 27, 2008.

Jane was born in the home of her parents, Victor Holly and Minnie Hester (Douglass) Augspurger, on their farm in Monroe on May 1, 1921. She attended Virginia Intermont College and Hamilton Business College in Ohio. She worked at Armco Steel Corporation, Frigidaire, and Champion Paper Company, where she met Roger Warner. They married on the family farm in 1948. They lived in Hamilton, where their only son, Ted, was born. They moved to Bethesda, MD in 1964 and Gaithersburg in 1994. Jane was a very active volunteer at North Bethesda Methodist Church office for many years. She was also an avid bridge player which she and Roger played regularly in couples groups. She loved to feed her birds, squirrels, and large goldfish that lived in their pond. When her two grandsons, Jim and Tony, were young, Jane loved their visits and all the holidays they spent together at the house. She continued to be close to them as they went through high school and started college.

In addition to her husband and parents, Jane was preceded in death by her twin sister, Marjorie 'Jean' Augspurger; brother, Robert Augspurger; and nephew, Robert 'Bobby' Augspurger.

She is survived by her son, Ted (Bonnie) Warner; two grandsons, James and Anthony Warner; a sister, Virginia 'Ginny' Alter; and niece, Cheryl Hanson.
