Karen Woodrey

Karen Woodrey, 69, of Middletown, died Sunday, November 6, 2016, at her home. She was born in Middletown on April 14, 1947 to parents Calvin George and Dorothy Jeanne (Line) Woodrey.

Karen was valedictorian of the 1965 graduating class of Trenton High School. She received her Master's of Education from Miami University of Oxford and taught with Middletown City Schools for 35 ½ years. She received several awards of distinction during her career. Karen loved to travel and had great joy in spending time with her family and friends as well as helping others in need.
Miss Woodrey is survived by her brother, Calvin Woodrey & sister-in-law, Julie Woodrey; niece, Tricia Woodrey; nephew, Chris (Brooke) Woodrey; great nephew, Cohen Woodrey; aunt, Betty Steigerwald; beloved pets, Blu & Bonnie; good friend, Sandy Locher & The A Team; as well as numerous more family & special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Thomas Reid & the staff of the Women's Cancer Center at Kettering and to Hospice Care of Middletown. Karen always viewed the glass as full, not half full. Her keen sense of humor, quick wit and smile, that was sunshine to so many of us, will be missed beyond measure.

Memorial service will be held Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at 6:00 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown with Pastor Lamar Ferrell officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 4:00 - 6:00 pm. Private inurnment will be at North Monroe Cemetery at a later date.
