Joseph Marconi

Joseph Marconi, 82, of Middletown, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2009 at home after a long illness. He was born in Harlan County, KY on April 11, 1927 to parents Giosia and Julia (Spinosi) Marconi.

He was the owner and President of Marconi Electrical Service for 20 years and served as General Manager for 19 more years as a division of Cincinnati Electric before retiring in 1997. Joe served in the U.S. Navy during WWII (Sep 44 – Jul 46) and was a member of American Legion Post 218 and Middletown Area Senior Citizen Center. He was a lifetime member of the Middletown Sportsman Club and Wildwood Golf Club (Past President) and a lifelong member of Holy Family Parish. Joe enjoyed playing golf and gin rummy but his greatest love was his family.

Mr. Marconi was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Attilio and John, sisters Clara (Surrah) and Eva. He is survived by his loving wife of 61-1/2 years, Josephine (Sora). He will be greatly missed and eternally remembered by his sons, Joe (Elizabeth) of Middletown, Don (Pat) of Middletown and his grandchildren Andrew of New York City, Nicholas of Monroe, Elizabeth (Michael) Aderhold of Camden, Robert and Matthew of Middletown and numerous nephews and nieces.

A Celebration of Life and Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at 10:00 am at Holy Family Parish – St. John's Church, 1405 First Ave, Middletown with Father John Civille as celebrant. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at WILSON-SCHRAMM-SPAULDING FUNERAL HOME, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery with military honors conducted by Middletown Combined Honor Guard. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice Care of Middletown.
