Jo Marie Van Cleve

March 20, 1955 — December 23, 2010

Mrs. Jo Marie VanCleve, 55, entered her heavenly reward on December 23rd at 9:55 pm after a courageous battle with cancer. Mrs. VanCleve was born in Middletown, Ohio on March 20, 1955 and was a 1973 alumnus of Bishop Fenwick High School. She worked at Rinks for many years until becoming a full-time homemaker. She had a special gift of taking care of children over the years. She was known for her wonderful love and care. While her boys were in school, she was a Den Mother for Pack 85 and became the president of Fenwick Arts and Music Association. She volunteered often and actively participated in many of their school activities.
A thrill of her young life was a trip to Italy in 1979 with her aunt, Sister Jean Sora; Lake Como, Italy was her favorite. She was a lifelong member of Holy Family Parish, St. John's Chapel, where she sang in the choir. She organized and ran the children's Easter Egg Hunt for multiple years and helped with the Holy Family Good Neighbor deliverance of calendars. She also volunteered litter pick up along State Route 122. However, her dream and highlights of her life were the births of her two children, despite being told by doctors that she was unable to bare. It is through these blessings and gifts from God that she developed her incredible passion and care for children.

Mrs. VanCleve is survived by her devoted husband of 29 years, Jerry Van Cleve, and her two beloved sons, Jerry T. VanCleve of Middletown and Joseph B. VanCleve of Washington, DC, and her stepson, Chad J. VanCleve of Fairborn. Jo Marie helped raise Chad as her own, along side of her husband, Jerry, who had custody of Chad when they were married. Chads wife, Nichole, and their three children, Jordan, Elizabeth and Emily, carry on Jo Maries love as well. She is also survived by a brother, Al Brannon and his wife Glenda, of Middletown, a sister, Patricia Trotta and her husband, John, of Jamestown, North Carolina, God Daughter, Amy Brannon and special nieces, Amy Brannon, Devanie Walters, Darla Rhea and Dara Rhea and a nephew, John Brannon. Jo Marie is also survived through her God Mother Josephine Marconi; aunts, Sister Jean Sora and Julia Gray; uncle, Gerald Sora; nieces, nephews, many cousins and special earthly angels, Mary Buskosky, Darlene Rhea & Mary Wesley, for aiding the family throughout the entire battle. Jo Marie also is survived through a special bond with the four Campbell children, Nathan, Samantha, Amanda & Caroline Campbell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard & Geraldine (Sora) Brannon and brother, Thomas Brannon.
