Monroe- Henry (Hank) Bergman Brumberg, 69, of Monroe went home to be with Jesus Tuesday, December 24, 2002 at Middletown Regional Hospital.
He was born at home in Ironton, Ohio on January 29, 1933, the son of the late Leopold Julius and Ola Ruth(Henry)Brumberg. He graduated from Ironton High School. He grew up working in his father and grandfather’s clothing business. He continued to work in the men’s clothing business both in Franklin at Thirkields and in Middletown at C.E. Greathouse clothier. Over the years, he also worked in food service bakery, deli at Ameristop in Monroe, Ohio; and head host at the International Restaurant at Kings Island.
He served in the US Navy from 1952-1956 during the Korean conflict in Hawaii and Guam.
He had been a resident of Franklin for 10 years where he taught in the Schenk school in Franklin from 1959-1964. During the last 33 years, he had resided in Monroe where he taught elementary and junior high schools in the Middletown City and Monroe schools for the past 27 years. In the summer, he also taught summer school at McKinley middle school. He retired in 1989 from teaching to pursue his hobbies of cooking, sewing, collecting horror/thriller movies, and traveling.
Along with teaching, he was an active member of the Elks Order in both Middletown and Hamilton and also a charter member the first Optimist club in Monroe. Hank belonged to the Monroe Presbyterian church where he was often seen as an usher or serving on the crises committee and lenten lunches.
Known to his family and friends as Hank and Mr. B. to his students, he always kept everybody in stitches/entertained. He loved life and enjoyed it to the fullest.
On June 12, 1960 he married Emily Anne Jones. They met while attending Rio Grand University in Gallipolis, Ohio and found they were true soul mates.
Preceding him in death is his wife, Emily Anne Brumberg in 1999 and his parents, Leopold Julius Brumberg 1966 and Ola Ruth (Henry) Brumberg in 1952.
He is survived by two daughters, Annette of Monroe and Sarah Daniels and her husband, Todd of Hamilton; one brother, A.J. Brumberg of Oakwood; twin granddaughters, Maurene and Wallis Daniels of Hamilton. He also leaves behind cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, students, and a multitude of friends and neighbors who will remember him for his tap dancing, cooking, humor, and mentoring.

ARRANGMENTS: Funeral services will be at Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church, Monroe with Rev. Samuel Gibb officiating on Saturday, December 28, 2002 at 10:00 am. Friends may call at Wilson Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home on Friday from 5-8 pm. Interment will be at Mound Cemetery in Monroe.
