Elizabeth "Betty" (Meister) Koeppel

Elizabeth "Betty" (Meister) Koeppel, 93, of Middletown, died Friday, June 17, 2016, at Garden Manor Retirement Village. She was born in Hamilton on December 10, 1922 to parents Joseph and Katherine (Zettler) Meister.

Betty was a member of Holy Family Parish where she was also a member of the Ladies Society. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels at Middletown Regional Hospital and was a member of the Middletown Symphony Women's Association. Betty delighted in cooking, camping, bowling and playing bocce and will be fondly remembered as "The Hat Lady".

Mrs. Koeppel is survived by her daughters, Lois Ann (Ken) Allen & Mary Angele (Lee) Schwartzenberg; sons, Francis Joseph (Sharon) Koeppel & Robert David (Julie) Koeppel; sister-in-law, Joan Skinner; grandchildren, Tom (Suzanne) Moorman, Angela (Randy) Taylor, Greg (Angie) Moorman, Kevin (Teresa) Allen, Kermit (Rachael) Allen, Molly (Andy) Rowe, Wayne (Kim) Schwartzenberg, Maggy (Eric) Koeppel, Eric (Justin) Koeppel & James Koeppel; great grandchildren, Nathan, Alison, Oscar, Sam, Timothe, Zoe, Chloe, Brendon, Ella, Aidan, Bryon, Faith, Tyler, Calli, Lenore, Caleb, Lydia & Audrey; as well as numerous nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar H. Koeppel in 1998, after 55 years of marriage; parents; brother, Louis Meister; sisters, Gretchen Brosier, Dorothy Kiesewetter & Mary Katherine Coyle; and grandchild, Christine Schwartzenberg.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 12:30 pm at Holy Family Parish - St. John's Church, 1405 First Avenue, Middletown with Father John Civille as celebrant. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:30 am - 12:00 noon at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
