Drushell 'Slim' Johnson

Drushell Keith "Slim" Johnson, 83, of Franklin Township, went to be with the Lord Sunday, August 19, 2012, at his home. He was born in Carbonglow, Kentucky on March 25, 1929 to parents William Hobert and Lucinda (Hale) Johnson.

Slim worked as a machinist at General Motors / Harrison Radiator for 21 years, retiring in 1995. He served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a member of Freewill Baptist Church, Jefferson Lodge #90 F. & A.M. and Scottish Rite. Slim was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was loved and respected by everyone who knew him and will be greatly missed.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Edith (Warnock) Johnson; daughters, Teresa (Gene) Cox & Tina Woods; grandchildren, Rusty (Amy McPherson) Woods, Gena (Brandon Cowgill) Cox, Jessica Cox, Matthew Cox & Hollie Woods; great grandson, Chandler Woods; sisters, Lenda Nickell & Carolyn (Robert) Kahne and his beloved dog, Molly.

He was preceded in death by his son, Randall Keith Johnson in 1980; parents; brother, Dorshell Johnson; and granddaughter, Valerie Cox.

Funeral Service will be held Thursday, August 23, 2012 at 11:00 am at Freewill Baptist Church - Franklin, 6194 State Route 123, Franklin with Pastor Dencil Owsley officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 - 8:00 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown with Masonic Service & Scottish Rite Ring Service presented at 7:00 pm. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 – 11:00 am at the church. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Middletown Combined Honor Guard.
