Carl M. Burgemeir 87, of Middletown died on Friday, September 5, 2008 at Hospice of Dayton. Most recently he had been living at Maria-Joseph Living Care Center in Dayton. He was born in Cincinnati, Oh on Sept. 26, 1920 to Leo Zwick & Dorothy (Harter) Zwick.

Carl was a WWII Veteran having served in the US Army Engineers. He was a member of Holy Family Parish where is was involved in many parish activities and at Fenwick High School, K of C # 1610, Monsignor McNary # 2299, Fenwick Boosters, Society of St. Vincent DePaul. Carl co-founded MECCO Inc. and served as president and manager until 1970. Carl retired from the Operating Engineers Local # 18. He and his wife Angie spent retirement years traveling worldwide.

He was involved in many volunteer activities that included Big Brothers for 10 years, Meals on Wheels, and eight years at Middletown Regional Hospital.

He is survived by a daughter, Jeanne Anne (James) Gray of Springfield; son, James (Patricia) Burgemeir of Middletown; seven grandchildren, Douglas (Tracy) Gray, Bryan (Debra) Gray, Natalie Gray, Jimmy (Jodie) Burgemeir, Ron (Nikki) Burgemeir, Jeffery Burgemeir, and Christine (Ryan) Ross; fourteen great grandchildren, Seth, Canaan, Elijah, & Adaliah Gray & Hugh, Ryan Goldstein, Nikolas & Emileigh Gray, Chloee Riegel, and Ashley, Matthew, Eli, Casey, & Corey Burgemeir, one brother, Bill (Wanda) Burgemeir, three sisters Frances (Ervin) Propps, Dorothy Hatfield & Eleanor (Tom) Rich.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Angie Burgemeir, Aug. 30, 2006 and a brother Lawrence Zwick

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, September 8, 2008 at 10:30 AM at Holy Family Parish - St. John's Church with Msgr. Paul Metzger celebrant. Visitation will be prior to Mass from 9:30 - 10:30 AM at church. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Carl & Angela Burgemeir Scholarship Fund c/o Fenwick High School, 4855 State Route 122, Franklin, OH 45005 or Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave. Dayton, Oh 45420.
