Georgia Comminos

June 7, 1930 — August 6, 2018

Beloved Matriarch of the Greater Middletown Greek Community fell asleep in the Lord on August 6, 2018, befitting this Greek Orthodox Christian as it was the day of the Holy Transfiguration. Georgia lived and served the Middletown Community her entire life. Georgia was born June 7, 1930 to her parents Steve and Lillie (Kourges) Comminos. Georgia graduated from Middletown High School and went on to graduate from Middletown Business School and began a successful career in community banking where she served the community for over 30 years, most notably with BankOne and then retiring from Chase bank. Georgia was also a member of the Middletown Area Business Women's Club for over 30 years.

An accomplished baker, she enjoyed making Greek pastry delights for family, friends and the entire community. Georgia was a leader wherever she served. Her passion, besides her adoring family, was the Greek Orthodox Church in Middletown: Saints Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church where she was a choir member for over 70 years including serving as the choir director. She also served the Church Parish Council as president and secretary. Her service did not stop there as she also made time to serve as treasurer of the Philoptochos (Friends of the Poor) Ladies Society, and was an integral part of Greekfest, the church's annual fundraiser and outreach program.

Georgia was preceded in death by her parents Steve and Lillie Comminos; her brothers, George and Terry Comminos; and her sister, Mary Comminos Oglesby, her nephew Greg Brown and niece Patty Comminos. She is survived by her beloved nephew, Steve Comminos and his wife Beth; and her adored great-nephews, Steven, Bill, and Donald Comminos; several godchildren; and many cousins and friends.
