Abigail Elizabeth Collins

Abigail Elizabeth “Abby” Stoops Collins, 36, of Middletown, died Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at Atrium Medical Center. She was born in Middletown on February 10, 1982 to parents Richard D. and Jennifer S. (Hay) Stoops.

From a very early age Abby was a champion for the underdog. She was helping special needs children in grade school and would face off bullies three times her petite size in defense of others. She was fearless in confronting threats to others and the demons that often plagued her. She always had the unique ability to see and connect with the person or child-not the disability or weakness. Her greatest joy and success was in mothering her very special child and light of her life, Ashton.

Abby is survived by her parents, Richard & Jenny Stoops; son, Aston Collins; brother, Christopher (Laura Stratton) Stoops; fiancé, Jerry Mitchell; "step daughter", Erica Mitchell; grandmother, Patricia Stoops; her aunts, cousins, uncle and many steadfast friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Jack Stoops; James and Catherine Hay; and her aunt, Pattie Hay.

Memorial service will be held Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd, at Bonita Dr.. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm.
